SSDs for my desktop
I’ve installed a couple of SSDs in my desktop PC. It’s made a huge difference, much more than I was expecting, even though I’ve seen the difference between an HDD and an SSD before.
I used a couple of 2.5" Western Digital SSDs I had bought for my home-lab, but then never installed. I had to buy adapters so they’d fit in the 3.5" bay, but because this case is a bit weird I had some trouble gettings ones that actually work. I ended up with these mad looking things that are covered in fins and look as though they’re just giant heatsinks, but they’re actually made of ABS plastic. I think the fins are just to allow air to flow while still sitting nice in a bay.
All in all a success.
I had disabled my feed reader for a while because it was running into a lot of trouble with 403’s and the like from websites. And the sheer amount of news made finding the blog posts and things a bit harder. So I decided to try and sort out the User-Agent header so it wasn’t some Ruby default, remove the news websites, and reduce it to running once a day. I hope that should do it.
